Accessibility in Restaurants

CEO/LPI Training Program provides Tips on Accessibility in Restaurants

Consultants have provided the Code Enforcement Officer Training and Certification program a 2-page summary of accessibilty issues for restaurants. They have asked me to forward it to Code Officers as a starting point for what owners, designers, and code officials need to be aware of for ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements when it comes to altering or building new restaurants.

They note:

With all of the attention that the growing food scene is getting in communities around Maine, there are many new restaurants opening that do not appear to meet the all of the design standards. We hope that if people are armed with the correct awareness and knowledge before they start the process it will be more cost effective to make changes on paper, rather than after construction is complete creating a more socially sustainable Maine for everyone.
