Climate Vulnerability Assessments (July 31, Portside UMM 3-5PM)

July 11, 2013

The focus of the July 31 meeting of the WCCOG Executive Committee is Climate Vulnerability Assessment. Featured speaker is VT Commissioner of Housing and Community Development Noelle MacKay who will share her experience with the aftermath and continuing response to impacts of Hurricane Irene in VT.

We will also see the results of GIS models that depict 3-D imagery of various flooding scenarios in Machias and Milbridge. This information includes refinements of draft GIS models presented at the October, 2012 WCCOG Annual General Meeting. UMM GIS Service Center Director Tora Johnson has accumulated and analysized significant amounts of new data and will also provide recommended preparation and response strategies for coastal towns.

WCCOG Municipal Members are strongly encouraged to invite their Emergency Response personnel/volunteers as well as Public Works and Roads/Highway personnel.

Mark your calendars: July 31 from 3-5PM at the Portside Lounge, University of Maine at Machias

Light refreshments will be provided.
