Resilience in a Changing Climate
WCCOG provides assistance to Washington County communities in strategies to meet the challenges of a changing climate. Working collaboratively with multiple state agencies and the University of Maine at Machias we have completed/continue to work on several initiatives including:

Regional Resilience projects in coastal working waterfronts and services centers

Machias Waterfront Resilience and Renewal — flood protection, economic analysis, oral histories

Preparation in 2014 of a Climate Vulnerability Assessment for Washington County (11.7 MB PDF)

Regional Coordination Policies that can be tailored to local purposes for climate change adaptation strategies

Assistance to municipalities with applications to the Maine DEP Stream Crossing Upgrade Grant Program to replace aging and inadequately sized/located culverts
